Ihafa: A Journal of African Studies

Ihafa: A Journal of African Studies is published by the Department of Linguistics, African and Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos, since 1991. It is devoted to publishing high quality scholarly works on African Languages, Linguistics, Literatures, and Cultures. The name Ihafa was coined from three indigenous words taken from three Nigerian languages; Iha (Ẹdo), Ifá (Yoruba), and Afa (Igbo). These words translate as divination – a repository of wisdom and knowledge in the languages. We welcome well researched articles (descriptive or theoretical), book reviews, critiques, rejoinders, and correspondence on issues arising from publications in the journal.
